GOTHENBURG, Sweden-President Bush dined with leaders of the European Union here on June 14, less than a month after Bilderberg held its secret meeting at nearby Stenungsund.

There, as anti-globalists protested outside the posh Radisson Hotel, Bush reassured EU leaders that, despite political posturing, he remains true to their agenda, as did his father, a member of Bilder berg's brother group, the Trilateral Commission, when he was president.

Despite fears expressed by Bilderberg when it met in mid-May, Bush expressed confidence that the Free Trade Area of the Americas will come into existence, as scheduled, in 2005.

Despite his rejection of the Kyoto treaty, he will strongly support efforts under the auspices of the United Nations to deal with global warming, Bush said.

There was nothing to be gained by not taking political credit for scrapping Kyoto when the Senate-which would have to ratify by a two-thirds majority vote-had already rejected the treaty 95-0, Bush explained.

Three senators, Chuck Hagel (R-Neb.), Christopher Dodd (D-Conn.) and Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Tex.) are Bilderberg members.
